The Gavin Horizontal Mill

Our Garvin mill is the gift of Jack Woods of Preston, MD.

The Garvin is currently under repair for a bent back gear assembly. Both the inner shaft, and the backgear assembly, are bent, and the gears are out of alignment.  We believe that the initial damage was caused by a chip jamming in the gears (a couple of teeth show damage), subsequently followed by the application of a large pipe wrench to force the gears to rotate.
